What happens when you feel stuck?

We often feel panicked and frustrated because there is no clear path forward. We can get caught up in our emotions and spin while we focus on the problem. We continue to fret about the fact we are experiencing something we don't like. "Why didn't I get that promotion? I did everything that was asked of me and I got passed over again!" Then we see the inequity all over the place and continue to complain. The situation doesn't get better and we fall victim to circumstance. We blame the system or other people, none of which we have control over. So how do we get unstuck?

Ask empowering questions that draw on what we do control - our perspective. "What can I do differently?" or "What are some of the limiting beliefs getting in my way?" When we reflect on these questions we begin to identify solutions. This new perspective shifts our energy and allows us to take powerful action over what we want to create for ourselves. In the case of our job, we might not have the power to change the decision but we can choose our response. We can ask ourselves about options and what we are willing to accept. Maybe we need to dig more into what is driving the desire for promotion. Is it recognition, or money or is it fair compensation for the work expected? Do we have a limiting belief that tells us we don’t really deserve to have that recognition?

"What are some of the limiting beliefs getting in my way?"

Our thoughts create our experience, and our thoughts are driven by our beliefs. Once we begin to become aware of the quality of our thoughts, we can uncover limiting beliefs that hold us back from what we want to create in our lives. Maybe we silently say to ourselves “oh, I’m never going to be promoted because the system is unfair”. That might hold true in our experience, but if we create our experience with our thoughts, what if we changed our thoughts? What if we began to say “I believe I deserve to be promoted and I’m now open to discovering the steps I need to take to allow that to happen”. If you still feel resistance in your body, like a slight “Ugh” feeling in your gut followed by “that’s still not going to happen” then you have the opportunity to ask “why don’t I feel that’s going to happen?”

The energy of our thoughts attracts the energy of our experience. If we want something, we need to align with it energetically. So then it becomes an exercise in changing our vibration. We can do that by simply acknowledging that we have a limiting belief. Once we acknowledge it exists, we can release it. Often these beliefs originated as a protection mechanism by our ego. We don’t want to feel disappointment or rejection so we create a belief that says “I’m not going to get this thing I want because the world is against me”. We find a way to justify it so we don’t feel so bad. However, if we acknowledge it by saying “I realize I’m trying to protect myself from disappointment and I can’t control what others choose, but I can control what I choose. I choose to acknowledge I’m afraid of being disappointed or rejected but I’m going to go for it anyway.”

Now that belief no longer has control over you, you choose to see it, acknowledge it and move on. Then you adjust your vibration by focusing on all your best qualities. Think about your skills, the things you’ve accomplished, the results you’ve achieved, and acknowledge them for yourself. Say to yourself “you know I’ve really done amazing things and here’s the proof”. Feel that in your body and notice your emotions. Then continue every day to focus on that feeling. This will then begin to change your beliefs and you’ll begin to see the results in your experience.

The moment we own our choices, the greater power we have to get what we want. Rather than depending on someone else for our success or progress, we take back our power and choose it for ourselves. Maybe we can't afford to quit, but we can have the conversation to challenge the decision and ask for feedback on it. Is there something we need to develop or is it simply a matter of ignorance? What if your leader doesn't really know the work you do? The conversation allows you to take control by giving you more information rather than relying on a story created in your head. Approaching the conversation from a place of power and a vibration that aligns with your new belief and feeling of worthiness, also changes the interaction. This new higher vibration actually invites a better conversation because you no longer believe the other person has the power to determine your experience. Give it a try…you might be surprised by the outcome!
