Managing Subtle Energy through Clearing

Welcome to part 4 in this series of 4 articles. Today we are talking about how I manage my subtle energy through clearing practices. In my first article on Managing Your Subtle Energy, I introduced the concept of subtle energy and shared that I use 3 different approaches to manage my subtle energy. One of those approaches involves clearing the energy of my body. For those of us who are highly sensitive, energy can build up or be taken on and cause challenges both physically and emotionally.
The concept of clearing energy, really just means that we have the ability to balance our energy by moving it out and cleaning it up so that we feel more aligned and peaceful. Energy is meant to flow constantly, in and around our body. Sometimes, we can impact this flow through the way we choose to experience every day. I mentioned in my last article that I work on a computer for most of my creative endeavors and can get so caught up in what I’m creating, that I end up sitting for hours on end. This can result in sore and stiff muscles and poor circulation. I’m not a fan of traditional exercise, meaning I don’t enjoy going to the gym or lifting weights etc. I prefer to walk outside or do slower exercise like yoga or qigong. But I’m also incredibly sensitive to subtle energy and highly empathic. This means that even if I move my body, there are times that this is not enough for me.
I tend to attract people that want to confide in me or unburden their problems, which involves emotional energy. All emotional energy has vibration and frequency, as demonstrated in the Emotional Scale I shared in a past article. If I am not managing my subtle energy well, I can end up taking on these lower frequency emotions and hold it in my subtle energy field. Sometimes I end up being in places or around people that carry lower frequency energy and it can be difficult to maintain a higher frequency. So I find that I have needed to create a practice for myself to know how it feels to be out of balance in my subtle energy, and take steps to clear out anything that isn’t of benefit to me. So what does this look like?
Well, first, it takes practice to get to know what it feels like to be out of balance. For me, I usually feel exhausted, irritable and have a strong desire to be alone. I feel a pull to isolate myself from others so I have space to breathe and a quiet environment. I also tend to notice that my breathing is very shallow so my body isn’t getting sufficient oxygen to feel good. If I have neglected this practice I will also get migraine headaches which force me to rest and focus back on my energy. When I’m able to be in the present moment, I notice where I feel off balance and will spend 5 to 10 minutes clearing my energy. When I’m really balanced, I’m able to take time in the morning and evening to clear my energy as part of my routine. It is a work in progress and I fall off the wagon so to speak, but I’m progressing towards being more and more balanced more of the time.
It isn’t that difficult to clear energy. It is a simple visualization exercise you can do anytime, anywhere. I find a comfortable place and close my eyes to focus on my breathing. I take a few deep breaths in and out to ground my body and get into a state of calm. I then imagine a bunch of plugs connected to my body that represent the energy of others I’ve allowed myself to attach to me. I imagine all of these plugs popping off my body all at the same time with puffs of smoke coming out, representing the release of the energy from my body. Then I take a few deep breaths and imagine the release continuing gently as the smoke filters away into the atmosphere and disappears. Then I imagine a ball of golden light forming over my head and slowly raining down over my body. I continue to breathe deeply in and out and allow this cleansing energy to replace the lower frequency energy. I focus on relaxing my body and stay with this image for a few minutes. Then I take a few more deep breaths and end the exercise, feeling gratitude for the ability to practice self-care in this way.
Another trick I use is to do this exercise in the shower. The water helps me to visualize and is grounding by nature so it can be really effective on days I’m not feeling so great. There is also a music mantra video on YouTube you can use from Lee Harris that I find useful when I just can’t shut off my mind. Lee is an energy intuitive, and his music provides a guided session to help get you started where you feel unsure of yourself. This particular piece is focused on clearing subtle energy.
Give it a try and see how you feel. Next week, we’ll dive a little deeper into meditation to explore active vs. passive meditation and why both types are important to remain in balance.
