Creating Something New in 2026

The new year is right around the corner, and I’ve begun thinking about what next year is going to look like for me. I’ve begun a new season of my life, and I’ve spent the last 6 months recovering from an experience where I was only surviving, to now where I feel I’ve started to thrive again. I have had more space and time to think and just be. To explore more of my authentic self, while also asking questions about how I want to share that authenticity with the world. I started this blog as a way to show up differently and to put myself out into the world. My experience was filled with energy and excitement, until I began to struggle to find something to say. In those moments, I wasn’t sure if I would keep writing, but I had made a commitment to myself that I would post one article every week, and I really wanted to keep that commitment and show up for myself.

Fast forward 6 months, and I am proud to say that I kept my promise! So now, I’m turning towards 2026 and asking, what is it that I want to create next? I began studying numerology last year and found it really fascinating. There are the basic numbers calculated from your date of birth that tell you things like your Ruling Number, which identifies the main focus of your life, and the Soul Urge and Outer Expression number, which identify your motivation and personality. But when you dig deeper, there are also calculations that can help guide you month to month, and year to year. Your Personal Year Number comes from adding up the numbers from your month and day of birth, along with the current year. Since I was born November 2, it looks like this:

11 + 2 + (2+0+2+5) = 11 + 2 + 9 = 22

2 + 2 = 4

My Personal Year for 2025 is 4, meaning it is a year of stabilization and consolidation. It is a year of rest and recovery to help integrate lessons and healing. That is definitely reflective of what I’ve experienced this year! So next year, I am entering a 5 Personal Year, which symbolizes change and freedom. When you think about it, this is a natural progression. When you are learning something new, you spend a lot of time gaining knowledge and experience, and then incorporating all of it into your perspective. You also spend time using that knowledge and experience to practice your new skill and get better at it. Once you’ve done that, you venture out into the world to search for opportunities to use that new skill. For me, that is what 2025 is all about. I’m at the beginning of a year that will present change to allow me new opportunities, and also a new season of my life, a season of wisdom.

Numerology divides one's life into 3 main stages, the last of which is the Wisdom stage. Each stage consists of 3 cycles, each 9 years long. Throughout those 9 years, we will cycle through our personal years 1 through 9, which gives us the opportunity to learn and grow and continue to integrate those lessons into our lives. This will be the 7th Personal Year 5 I will experience in my life. It’s hard to remember everything that has happened over the years and I don’t recall any significant change for my last year 5 that happened in 2017, but now that I’m aware of the energy, I will be able to take change in stride and trust that it’s part of a normal cycle that leads me into bigger and better things. Everything I’ve built over the last 4 years will be tested and I will be able to let whatever doesn’t work for me fall away, and embrace what makes me resilient. There is a lot of movement in a year 5, which means there may be times when I feel more impulsive, but having worked this year on finding balance and stability, I trust myself more to be able to manage what comes my way.

I’m super excited for a new year, and I’ve been thinking about the intentions I want to take into 2026. I don’t do resolutions because they are very rigid and outcome focused, which means they don’t allow for flow and it’s hard to co-create with the universe when you have specific expectations. So I will look at being more flexible and focused on how I want to feel. This means living a more heart-focused experience and relying less on my mind to help me create joy and happiness. For someone who spends a great deal of time in their head, this will be challenging but I’m up for it!

What intentions do you want to take into 2026? Treat your body better? Use more positive self-talk? Give yourself the space to be rather than doing? Work on getting to know yourself and be more empowered? Or maybe you just want to let the universe in more and see what happens to your experience. Whatever you choose, I wish you great success!
